Travel Like a King

"If my poetry aims to achieve anything, it's to deliver people from the limited ways in which they see and feel" – Jim Morrison

the deeper life

“All that we call person and personal, indeed all that we can know or name in ourselves at all, is but one element in the whole. Beneath it lies, even in us, that ‘wholly other’, whose profundities, impenetrable to any concept, can yet be grasped in the numinous self-feeling by one who has experience of the deeper life” – Rudolf Otto

a magic science

“I’m working on music to be completely utterly a magic science where it’s all pure positive. The more doubt and negatives you knock out of anything, the heavier it gets and the clearer it gets and the deeper it gets into whoever is around it. It gets contagious.” – Jimi Hendrix

a cosmic adventure in consciousness

“The individual tuned into this experiential area [i.e. the full-blown psychedelic experience] usually discovers within himself or herself genuinely positive values, such as a sense of justice, appreciation of beauty, feelings of love, and self-respect as well as respect for others. These values, as well as the motivations to pursue them and live in accordance with them, appear on this level to be intrinsic to human nature.”

“The insights emerging from high-dose psychedelic sessions are of a global, intuitive and holographic nature. The transcendental ‘aha!’ experience of this kind cannot be dissected easily by the Western analytical mind, nor can it be exploited in a pragmatic sense. It is an illuminating insight into the very essence of existence. The experient does not gain rational understanding of the cosmic process, but reaches instant comprehension by losing his or her separate identity and literally becoming the process.”

“Beyond this point [the completion of the process of ego death and rebirth] . . . sessions are transpersonal in nature and represent a continuing philosophical and spiritual search. Whether the process was originally approached as therapy or for another reason, it becomes at this stage a cosmic adventure in consciousness aimed at solving the riddles of personal identity, human existence, and the universal scheme.” – Stanislav Grof

the mystic

“The mystic is, in short, invulnerable, and must be left, whether we relish it or not, in undisturbed enjoyment of his creed.” – William James

choose so to rise

“To recognize our own divinity, and our intimate relation to the Universal, is to attach the belts of our machinery to the power-house of the Universe. One needs remain in hell no longer than one chooses to; we can rise to any heaven we ourselves choose; and when we choose so to rise, all the higher powers of the Universe combine to help us heavenward.” – Ralph Waldo Trine

the eye

“The eye with which I see God is the same eye with which God sees me: my eye and God’s eye are one eye, one seeing, one knowing and one love.” – Meister Eckhart

the wholly uncomprehended Mystery

“One does not kneel before a cyclone or the blind forces of nature, nor even before Omnipotence merely as such. But one does kneel before the wholly uncomprehended Mystery, revealed yet unrevealed, and one’s soul is stilled by feeling the way of its working, and therein its justification. ” – Rudolf Otto

zombie

“Zombie no go go, unless you tell am to go (Zombie)

Zombie no go stop, unless you tell am to stop (Zombie)

Zombie no go turn, unless you tell am to turn (Zombie)

Zombie no go think, unless you tell am to think (Zombie)” – Fela Kuti

a treasure hard to attain

“The most healing, and psychologically the most necessary, experiences are a ‘treasure hard to attain,’ and its acquisition demands something out of the common.” – Carl Jung
